Love 'em or hate 'em, candy hearts are a true symbol of Valentine's Day. To make this all you need is a simple rectangle shape from pink construction paper with small small hearts glued to the front of the box. Personalize the box with your name as you see on this box that says “Ms. Carla's Sweethearts”. I love that this is an interactive board that kids can be a part of. Here's a fun idea for your math themed bulletin boards! Give your students a sheet of graph paper and have them color a 2 or 3 color pattern on the paper. Next, give each student a big heart pattern to trace and cut out on the graph paper. Staple them to the bulletin board to look like balloons floating in the air. 7. Give Your Heart To Others

This Valentine's Day bulletin board celebrating Kindness Month is one of my favorite ideas. Each of the large hearts has a random act of kindness written on the left side. There are acts like “Pick up trash around school” and “Say hello to someone you don't know”.

Each time a student notices another child doing one of these random acts of kindness they write a note to recognize the other student and it gets stapled to the right side of the corresponding heart on the bulletin board. This is one of the most creative bulletin boards and a great way to integrate your SEL and a writing activity in 1st or 2nd grade during February! It's perfect for Random Acts Of Kindness Day which is celebrated on February 17.

Valentine Party Ideas

Now that you have ideas for your bulletin boards, it's time toplan what you'll do for your Valentine's Day party activities. One of my favorite ways to celebrate was to take my students on a trip to Loveland. First I told my students that Cupid was looking for new employees to help him on Valentine's Day. Each student completed a job application to work in Loveland. Next, I set up 8 different stations around the room for the students to visit. Each station represented a different job that Cupid would do on Valentine's Day.

Students helped to mend a broken heart, made a love bug, and even made a love potion. It's a super fun and creative way to make your Valentine's party both educational and fun!Head over here to see everything we did during our Valentine's Day party.
