I have an old (1999?) kinda basket case of a Honda Foreman 400 that I got running over the weekend. BLUF, it needs new running gear and parts. Where is the best place to get decent parts? I don't need billet, chromoly, or the cheapest parts. I just want to rebuild this thing and have it to putt around on. I know it needs front axles and brakes all the way around. I might just pull the rear axle and throw all new bearings and seals in it, because I can.
Stock it comes with 24" tires front and rear, but they are kaput. Worth getting 25" tires or just keep it bone stock?

I've bought parts from Cycle Parts Nation - The Motorsports OEM Parts SuperStore before. No problems purchasing from them, but they had a long lead time.

Ebay/Scamazon and go from there.
I would stick with a stock tires size as that is what it was designed for - why burden diffs/suspension etc...
Baseline it well, have fun with it.
Sort of what I am in process of with 2006 Kodiak 450.
Stock, save for the winch that previous owner had installed.

I haven’t checked recently but used parts were readily available. I had 25” tires on my Foreman 400 without any issues. The drum brake design sucks. They make a disc brake conversion for them or at least for the front.

Do they require 12" or larger wheels? Stock is 11" and the quick search says the conversions won't work.

Same Chinese parts. Cv shafts are probably fine. That 400cc isn’t a powerhouse. Should work fine.

I buy the majority of my oem parts from Partzilla: OEM Motorcycle Parts, ATV Parts, Marine Parts quick shipping and lower prices than the dealer, i try to group larger orders to get free shipping.
If you go to 25s, you can save weight by going with 25x8x12 tires on all 4 corners and not hurt performance as much. Also gain the ability for the same spare to fit all 4 corners, and be able to rotate tires if ya wanted.

won't be able to rotate tires front to rear on the Foreman. wheel offset is way different front and rear.
i had a '95 Foreman 400 15+ years ago and sold it. kicking myself ever since..

Thats right, I forgot the live axle hondas havent changed drivetrain since the early 80s... regardless,I'd still look into a skinny tire setup if the OP does go up to 25s.

as mentioned the brakes are mediocre on those. owners rarely maintain them plus driving thru mud and other sh*t.
Highlifter makes a front disc conversion but it's $500+

I use partzilla and RevZilla quite frequently. RMATV has gone downhill.
It's a Honda. Buy Honda parts if you can find them and they'll generally last a long time again.
If you can't buy Honda parts, buy the Chinese parts 2x and keep a spare on hand.
Why Honda uses odd tire sizes and then doesn't sell them is beyond me. The wife's rancher is going to need tires for the winter, and the factory tires aren't available. And that tire size has about 3 options that are all stupid.

Any engine trans parts go Honda, the rest I'd use house brands that sell a large volume,
I use Tusk from RMATV a lot cause I know they won't be ****y if I find the part sucks and I need another or want a refund.
