Anybody have experience with trailmaster?

Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:03 pm

Looking for a trailmaster 150 XRS review

I am looking into a buggy, right now I am deciding on HH or trailmaster. Trailmaster looks a lot better built.

Also, I am reading about how a 150cc is nowhere efficient for a person who is 5'10'' 150 lbs. Is this true? The plan was a Trailmaster 150 XRS witha UNI right away. I am in the Midwest so all forest trails. Suggestions?

My local dealer sells trailmaster now... he use to sell Hammerhead. He's pretty honest and says they're both about equal in quality. My daughter has little trailmaster mini and it's held up pretty good, no complaints.

My guess is you'd be better off w/250 if you can afford it, just my opinion.

I would recommend going with a 250. The 150s are ok, but you will be wanting more. And, you'll definately want the independant rear suspension to save your back. JMO, so take it for what its worth. I think the Trailmaster 300 has been a decent machine. The Joyner and Hammerhead 250s are good machines as is the Roketa.

Hell, may as well just start off building a mini sand rail cause if you stick around long enough that's what you'll eventually end up doing anyways! BuggyNews Buggy Forum • View topic (1)

The only problem with a 250 for me is the cost. Is a 150 worth it if that is what I can afford currently? I would without a doubt be upgrading engine parts.

i own a 150 me it has plenty power... no matter what cc you get it is in our nature to want more... if ur money limits you to getting a 150cc then do it!!! put a few bucks only on your variator weights and clutch spring uni and gutt ur exhaused it will do everything a stock 250 will do. for alot less money what a 250 costs...so go for it....Eddie.

I would have to agree with Miami. I also have a 150 and so far it's done everything we've asked it to do. I'm 6' 2", 210 and my side kick is 85 lbs. Will struggle a little in some situations but for the most part, it does well! Mods mentioned by Buggified are on the way!

I love my 150 XRS. I am 6' 190 lbs and it has plenty of power for what I do. I run around on fairly flat trails, fields, and back country blacktop roads. I will eventually install some mods but for what it is, it is pretty quick. With my 100 lb wife in the passenger seat we have hit 41mph on the gps on long straights.

I've had my 150 XRX for right at a month now and it's a pretty cool little machine. I'm 6' and 195 lbs and it scoots me around pretty good actually. I mostly ride by myself back in a wooded area behind my house. There are several pretty decent hills that I can climb right up. The only time I would like more power is when I have a passenger. My daughters boyfriend was riding with me yesterday and he's about my same size. The buggy struggled to climb those same hills. On the flat straight ways, it would still go pretty good. I'm still trying to decide what kind of mods I want to go with that will work well with my type of riding area. Overall I'm very pleased with the buggy though.

We've had our trailmaster 150 xrx for a little over a year and we love it. After the mods it has plenty of low end power ( we're not much for speed). Living near the mountains with the mods it climbs great!

Ohhh yes --- a 15o is how We started (many yrs back) & we 'still' have 2 BuggyNews Buggy Forum • View topic (2)

As a Matter of Fact...
either one of our 150's can 'still' lay down 'Much Faster' lap times than any our 650's, on any tight turning Mx style course !!!
The 15o has some 'Bad A$s' potential/capabilities, that's for sure !!!
Just, check out Funnyman's past posts on his single cylinder; 150'ish, cc Torque Monster (for example)...

I 'still' Love the... tight turning, responsive, often impressive "Power to Weight" ratio the smaller caliber buggys are capable of !!!
